Was Corey Moore on that team? I cant remember.

Dude was a beast. He never made an impact in the NFL, his size kept him from being an impact player, but at the college level he was a monster pass rusher.
and Stanford has no room to talk about weak scheduling.
Quick, name the best four teams Stanford plays this year.
Oregon, SC, and........Notre Dame? Cal? UCLA?
So they have no room to really criticize VT. VT didnt play any team as good as Oregon, but Clemson is as good as SC IMO.
I believe in Arkansas, and you should too. They play LSU the toughest out of anybody in the SEC (yes, including Alabama) and have a knack for beating LSU at the biggest time (*cough 2007 *cough*). Their passing attack will really test LSU *remember, WVU passed for 463 yards against LSU and without a huge KO return TD and a punter kicking five punts inside the 20, 3 inside the 5 WVU would have been in that game*
If Arkansas's OL can hold up, they have a REAL shot at winning. Their D is much improved, and we all know LSU's offense is far from explosive.
Biggin's keys to beating LSU (for Arkansas):
1) WIN the turnover battle. Arkansas CANNOT win if they are -3, hell I dunno if they win unless they are +2. But if Arkansas is at least even, they have a shot.
2) Gain at least 70 rushing yards. Pretty simple. Reduce the LSU pass rush by rushing somewhat, giving Wilson and the best WR set in the nation time to work.
3) Do not expect to go 95 yards on LSU's defense. Wing is the best punter in CFB, if he pins you inside the 5 do not get cute and turn the ball over. LSUs offense is gonna struggle, as they have against any good team this year, so dont give them points by turning it over inside the 10 or giving LSU the ball on the Ark 40.

yeah Corey Moore could play...like you said, his size hurt him in the NFL, he had to be an OLB in the NFL and he didnt have the lateral quickness to stay with any RBs or slot receivers...but his straight-line speed was ridiculous (sub 4.4) and just abused most tackles he played against...that entire D-line and even our linebackers were pretty decent....but we were severely lacking at DB, particularly safety where Nick Sorenson was a starter and the slowest player to play that position for VT in 20 years...the weakness at that position was exploited by Peter Warrick and Chris Weinke...it was pitch and catch all day, no matter how good of a pass rush VT couldve gotten
what is surprising is that even with as weak of safeties as VT had that year, they still went into the National Championship game with the #1 offense AND #1 defense
it is very interesting to see the flip-flop VT has made since that season...VT is now known for stingy defenses that dont give up a lot of points, and their offense has been a little behind the defense
after 2003, Bud Foster made a change to VT's scheme and made one of the safety spots play closer to the line (rover) in almost another LB look, giving VT more of an 8-man front...from that point, VT started recruiting more athletic players in the safety and rover spots and you get players like Kam Chancellor, Vinnie Fuller, Eddie Whitley, Antone Exum, who are all head and shoulders more athletic than anyone in the secondary in that 99 championship game
the problem is, there will never be another Michael Vick...ppl can say someone is "the next coming of Michael Vick" but that's either hyperbole or just not true...you have a QB who ran a sub 4.3 40, could throw the ball 70 yards down the field with a flick of the wrist and an innate ability to feel the pass rush from behind him and make a broken play a 60 yard touchdown...it's unbelievable what he did that year (and what he's done the last 2 years in the NFL) and no one will ever replicate that, he's a once-in-a-lifetime talent
now, with that said, the BCS system is flawed...bad...and if it works out that it works in VTs favor, then so be it...is VT one of the top 2 teams in the nation right now? no, probably not...but if they make it to the national championship game and somehow beat whoever awaits them, will i celebrate any less? hellllll no...every other "national champion" has played under the same system with the same rules, and a win on the big stage will earn the right to deserve that trophy just as much as anyone
do i think VT makes it? no, i dont...something is gonna happen, and VT won't get in, and i won't mind b/c i wasn't expecting national title from this group...a new qb, no tight ends, 4 season ending injuries to starters on defense...i'm very happy with another 10-win season from this group...if all we do is win the ACC title and make it to the orange bowl and get to 13-1, it'll be a pretty dang good year for this group...if they backdoor their way into the BCS title game, then it'll turn a great year into an astonishing accomplishment
if (and big IF) David Wilson and/or Jayron Hosley come back next year, VT could have serious national title hopes, 10 starters would return to a defense that has been exceptional all year, Logan Thomas has a year under his belt when he has played phenomenal (minus the Clemson game) and you get the nations leading rusher back
if David Wilson leaves, then VT has 2 4-star RBs coming in, and a speedy 3-star, to go along with Tony Gregory...none of those are David Wilson (or even Ryan Williams or Darren Evans) but they dont have to be...dont fumble the ball and pick up 4-5 ypc and VT could be very good next year

VT does as good or better than anyone with their 3rd level of defense. It's even more impressive when you see that a lot of those kids didn't have the best offers or pub coming out of high school.

thats why those gd VT defenses are always so good. They never, ever seem to have elite LBs at all, and the DLs have been hit or miss with talent, but the back four/five always play as good as anybody. Names like Chancellor, Allen, Fuller, Hall, etc.. have dominated BE/ACC teams for years.
Just to test my thesis:
Quick, name 5 good VT LBs since 2001.
I cant think of any, and yall know how seriously I take CFB
Wait, one; Xavier Adibi.
oh and i wanna add, im in the David Wilson fanclub. People dont see him weekly so they dont know, but taht kid is special. He has decent size, but his esapability and tackle breaking skills for a RB of his size are incredible. Yeah, hes fast as fuck, but his game is made by those long runs by breaking tackles.
I compare him to Chris Johnson, but with a bigger body and harder to bring down.
They both are the type of guy who gets 1 yard, 1 yard, -2 yards, 3 yards, then goes 60.
